The heart of Harvard Gulch - a small, elegant neighborhood bounded on the north by Evans Avenue and Yale Avenue on the south and Broadway to the west and Downing Street on the east - is the very large, well-maintained Harvard Gulch Park, sprinkled with meandering walkways cutting across gentle slopes and rolling hills and home to the Harvard Municipal Golf Course, a gem of a Par 3, 9-hole course open to the public and run by the City and County of Denver.

The Harvard Gulch Recreation Center offers a wide variety of activities for young and old and those in between - registration is $37.50 for three months - and the rec center sports soccer fields, a softball field, a large pool and a "kiddie" pool.

Hugging the corner of E. Iliff Avenue and South Logan Street across from the park in its classic brown-and-tan brick building is Our Lady of Lourdes School. The homes in the neighborhood are a healthy mixture of one-level Tudors and one-story red brick homes alongside clean, well-kept apartment buildings, town homes with the occasional old, three-story wood frame mansion tucked behind a cluster of trees (one's backyard reportedly is home to a family of foxes).

The large, two-story, classic, red-brick building set on a grassy campus near Sherman Street and Iliff is Rosedale Elementary School and nearby on South Logan Street you can find happy gardeners in the summer months tending their plant and vegetable gardens in the Rosedale Community Garden, operated by Denver Urban Gardens.

You'll find Porter Adventist Hospital on South Downing Street and Yale Avenue and Mile High Adventist Academy sits across the street. Behind the hospital on South Clarkson Street you'll come across cute, bungalow-style homes in bright, exciting colors such as canary yellow, lime green and eggshell white.
